Group 2 (Jimmy Luccas on O. J. Simpson)

In the article Simpson Arrested on Charges Related to Robbery, Noah Adams and Ina Jaffe talk about another one of OJ Simpson’s problem s with the law. On September 16, 2007 OJ Simpson was arrested for reportedly being a part of an armed group that broke into a Las Vegas hotel. Simpson is facing seven charges, six of which are felonies. He was accused of stealing some memorabilia that documented his career in sports, while being armed with “deadly weapons.” OJ Simpson is a retired NFL star running back that became famous for more than just his football career. OJ Simpson was accused for killing his wife and her friend. This incident was made public very quickly. The case became so popular that it is now known as the “trial of the century." His record keeps filling up with more and more crimes. Finally OJ may be put in prison! With a couple counts of armed robbery, conspiracy to commit burglary with a firearm, and other crimes, OJ may have had his last stand.

Seeing this article really frustrates me because it took this long to get this man into prison. It seems like people can do whatever they want because the penalties they receive are not harsh enough. Maybe if he was jailed before this, Simpson may have seen reality and understood that he cannot do whatever he wants . More and more issues are occurring where pro athletes commit crimes and they can just get away with them. I see a similar future with Michael Vick. Hopefully they will stop him before he gets out of hand. There needs to be the same penalties to all people, whether they are famous or not.

OJ simpson has become famous for more than just his athletic talents. A while ago OJ was accused of murdering his wife but did not end up getting charged for the crime. That trial was one of the most famouse of all time. Recently OJ Simpson has been getting himself into more trouble. Recently he was arrested for armed robbery at a Vegas Hotel. He has gottem himself into more trouble besides that and it looks like he may be going to prison. It seems like more and more these days, famous people think that they can do whatever they want and get away with it. It's too bad that it has taken them this long to find a reason to put him in jail when he has done so many other things that deserve prison. I hope that he can finaly realize that he cannot get away with everything. I also hope other famouse people understand that they have to play by the rules as well and that the law applys to everyone.

I can't believe O.J. Simpson is in the news again. I think Jimmy is right, he thinks he can get away with anything. I can't believe he is stupid enough to enter a hotel room to collect some items he felt belonged to him. One would think after getting away with murder you would be smart enough to stay out of the public eye and enjoy your freedom. O.J. Simpson deserves to be charged on all 7 accounts and finally be put in jail. As sad as it may be, cases such as this really make me think that famous people really do get preferential treatment. If O.J. doesn't get convicted for robbery and assault I think we really need to be apprehensive of the law and judicial system.

In regards to the OJ Simpson arrest on September 16, 2007 one can only speculate the the legitimacy of Simpson's
motivations. He claims that the reason he broke in was due to the fact that he needed to collect his parafanalia. Details aside,
this argument is not legitimate. For anyone, celebrity or not, breaking and entering with even one weapon is against the law.

To be honest, there is really nothing to be argued in this case.O.J. Simpson went against the law and should be convicted for
his actions. This case is a perfect example of the problem with celebrity privileges. Over the past year there have been
numerous celebrities that have abused their reputation and status to ease their way out of criminal cases. OJ Simpson, as well
as others, should not be treated any differently than normal everyday citizens. We all live under the same constitution and
should all me treated in the same fashion, in terms of criminal cases.

What if this were to happen to one of our cousins or friends? They would be automatically convicted and there would be no
publicity on the event. Because there is publicity on the OJ Simpson account, people read, and therefore form opinions of what
should be done and what not should be done. Because people are now speculating about the OJ Simpson trial, it will take more
time to decide the outcome and therefore there will be more time for Simpson to use his celebrity status to outweigh his
actions.
